Quality Assurance Lead – Automation

As we continue to scale, we are building the central systems that keep reordering, dark store operations, and our on-ground workforce running smoothly.

Fairdeal is hiring a Senior QA Automation Engineer to build our quality engineering practice from the ground up. This is a senior, hands-on role with a clear starting point. We're looking for someone to do the early groundwork, design a proper framework around it, start delivering meaningful automation quickly, and shape a stronger quality culture across the team.

•    Define and own the overall test strategy and automation roadmap for the platform

•    Design and build a scalable automation framework largely from scratch — own architecture and tooling decisions

•    Mature our existing Appium scripts into a real, maintainable framework, and expand coverage across UI, API, integration, and end-to-end workflows

•    Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and product to identify test scenarios and prioritise coverage where it matters most

•    Troubleshoot failures across the application, framework, environment, test data, authentication, or the CI/CD pipeline

•    Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines

•    Review requirements early to surface risks, missing acceptance criteria, dependencies, permissions, and test-data gaps

•    Mentor QA engineers and move the team toward an automation-first quality engineering model — while staying hands-on yourself

•    Report clearly on coverage, execution results, defects, risks, and release readiness

•    Work directly with engineering, product, architecture, and other stakeholders

•    Use Claude Code and Cursor as a core part of your daily workflow — creating repeatable prompts, instructions, and agent workflows for test design, implementation, debugging, documentation, and root-cause analysis

•    Review, validate, and improve AI-generated automation code before it's committed or executed

•    4+ years in quality engineering, software testing, or test automation

•    Strong, current hands-on automation experience; comfort with Appium for mobile, and with modern web/API tooling such as Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript

•    Strong UI and API automation experience

•    Solid understanding of CI/CD environments

•    Experience testing complex enterprise workflows across multiple systems and integration layers

•    Strong grasp of test isolation, parallel execution, retries, reporting, tracing, and debugging

•    REST API testing well beyond the happy path — authorization, negative, boundary, contract, resilience, idempotency, concurrency, and data-validation scenarios

•    Experience creating reusable API clients, test-data builders, configuration utilities, and authentication components

•    Strong programming, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills

•    Experience mentoring QA engineers while remaining actively hands-on

•    Strong written and verbal communication skills

•    Hands-on experience with both Claude Code and Cursor is required — including writing effective prompts and repository instructions, building repeatable agent workflows, and spotting and fixing incomplete, duplicated, or poorly designed AI-generated code

•    Familiarity with performance, accessibility, security, and observability testing

•    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline — or equivalent professional experience
